Meowy Christmas!

This picture has nothing to do with our cats, but it is a picture of our first Christmas tree! Isn't it pretty?

The stockings were hung on the railing with care...with Phoebe in the background.
Notice the two small stockings...meow meow!

The kitties had a little visit from Uncle Dick this past weekend. Yes, he brought them some gifts that their Wauconda friends, Kitty Cat and Sweetie Pie, had bought them. As you can see below, the cats seemed to have enjoyed the bows and tissue paper as well!

Ellie laid in this tissue paper for quite a while. I'd say she took about a 1/2 hour nap all wrapped up. I left a piece of tissue on the floor all week and she really liked it. Strange.

Ooh, the Attack Cat! Go Phoebe! Kill that bow!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Oh Chirstmas tree...

and big fat cat!

Here is Ellie posing 'Kirstie Alley' style in front of our first Christmas tree (awe...we're married!). Well, maybe she isn't posing, but rather laying wherever her tubby body landed. (Side note from previous post: she is healthy according to Mr. Vet. She just likes to eat!)

I really wanted a picture of both cats, however, Phoebe was off spazzing out behind me and eating garland. Poor cat...tiny head = tiny brain.

So far there hasn't been too many issues with the tree and the cats. Just a few ornaments on the floor the first day or two, but other than that, they have been good. They do meet for an occasional pow-wow under the tree where I suppose they are discussing possible x-mas gifts for their owners.

Poor Ellie...

She has lost her girlish figure and now it's diet time.

Do they make treadmills for cats?

Why do I get the weird cats?

Sorry for the delay in posts. We've been busy getting married, hanging out in Maui and stuff like that! Here are a bunch of pictures from the past few weeks...my cats are weird.

Fatty and Little Head...sunbathers extraordinaire!

Ellie's paw...don't ask.

Phoebe's modeling picture. Either she is trying to look serious or she wants whatever it is that I was eating at the moment.

What's your sleep number?

Ellie's is 27 - which is the same as laying on someone's back.

Yes, she crawled up on my back to sleep. It was very funny, but really uncomfortable for me. I tried to call Kevin in to take a picture, and every time I said his name, she pawed at my head.

Here she is taking advantage of the arm of the couch. She tends to lay like this a lot with all four paws hanging over the side of the couch. Very lady-like.

Here's one of Phoebe's favorite spots; laying on the warm radiator. I am slightly jealous of her.(Again, she is laying on a towel...gotta make it comfortable for her!)

Here are the ladies just hanging out in the hallway. Apparently Ellie cannot lay like a normal cat. Does she realize that this position is not flattering to her figure?

Here is Ellie celebrating Halloween, bat-style. I put this toy, which the cats got from Auntie Andrea, on her back. She walked around it with for a while so I was able to snap a picture. I tried it with Phoebe, but she wasn't as tolerant.

YYAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Our parents are getting married in 3 days!!!

Meow meow!
(What? We're cats...we don't show much emotion, especially when the camera is on us.)

Finally...an update!

It's hard to update a cat blog when the cats don't do anything all day. And, I don't always have my camera handy to capture their antics, but I managed to take a few during the past two weeks. Fatty and Little Head continue to bring us joy...yes, they bring US joy. Kevin does like them and I can tell he wants more cats!!! (If I say it enough, maybe he will start believing it!)

Pay no attention to the cat behind the curtain...or to the fact that the curtains need to be ironed! The Feline of Oz.

This is the window were Ellie can usually be found. She tends to lay on the table (yes, on a towel) and look out the window when she is not upstairs sleeping. I especially like when I pull up the driveway and her little ears perk up as she sees me.

Spoiled? I think so. Here is Phoebe resting on our heating pad. Kevin had used it for his back and when it was not being used, Phoebe claimed it. Of course I had to turn it on for her and then cover her with a towel (naturally) and she slept there for about 2 hours.

An empty box? Don't mind if I do!

Somehow Fatty managed to jump into the empty box for our dishes. Thankfully it was empty or I imagine that there would have been some broken dishes.

Cat Fun

Sorry for the long wait! There is really nothing new or exciting with the cats. I still am unable to take a shower without the presence of Ellie - either sitting on the tub between the shower curtain and liner or sitting right on the bath mat...making it almost impossible for me to get out. And, heaven for bid I want to sleep in once in a while....Phoebe is right there to wake me up with her meows. Sometimes she sits at the bottom of the stairs and meows as loud as her little head can so I wake up. They pretty much own me....

Here are just some random pictures.

Now that is a full load!!!

Phoebe lounging on her chair. I have to cover it with a towel to keep her fur from sticking to the cushion....so spoiled.

Fat cat in a little bag....

(Thanks for the bag, mom! It was a hit with Ellie!)

Suppose I could buy her from Target....do you suppose they'd charge by the pound???

Window Cats

This is the common thing to see at our to house now. The kitties LOVE sitting in the windows. I put old towels in there for them lay on and they seem to like it. The above picture shows Phoebe standing on a basket (with a blanket on it of course!) only because Fatty would not share the window. This window at the end of our hallway is probably one of the hottest spots in the house for them to sit. However, they were glued to the front windows the other morning when Mr. Squirrel paid them a visit on the front porch roof.

I think Phoebe found a leaf to watch....

This is Ellie's new "senior picture." I believe she is thinking about food...

Sorry!

It's been a while since I have updated this blog, but the cats are still here and they are as fat and meowy as ever!

Back in May, Ellie, who I started calling Liza My-Ellie, was taken to the vet to see why she was so, um, fat. She is 12.9 pounds and I had to make sure that she wasn't sick or anything. Well, $130 later, we found out that she is healthy, but apparently likes to eat.

The vet trips are not so bad with Ellie. For once, I have a cat who actually likes car rides. (and I am very excited about that!!!) I place her in the front seat, she looks around for a while and then heads to the backseat to sit and enjoy the ride.

Here she is...all proud in the backseat! And, she doesn't even make a noise unlike the other spaz I have at home who sounds as if she is being tortured in the car!

Of course, after the vet visit, Ellie hasn't been eating quite as much. (go figure) I figured she isn't as bored as before since we now let the cats sit in the open windows and watch the "wildlife" outside. And, to ensure that they are comfortable and that I am crazy, they lay on a folded towel that I place in the window.

Here is a picture taken this past weekend of the kitties sitting on a table in the dining room. I believe they are sunbathing. This was after someone, who I will not name but she is black and white and has a little head, begged for breakfast. I wasn't sure if she would like Cocoa Puffs, but apparently she does.

I had to push Fatty over so that Little Head could actually sit up there with her.

Aren't they the cutest???

Happy Belated 2nd Birthday Phoebe!!!

I will not be receiving a "Mother of the Year" award this year. I forgot Little Miss Phoebe Rose Nylund's birthday on Friday!!! I know....I am horrible! I will blame it on all of the hype of my nephew's first communion on Saturday....yeah.....that's the ticket!

Well, I made up for missing her birthday and I think the grudge she had against me is now gone. I bought her some wonderful 'Catnip Critters' and little mice toys that rattle and she loved them! I also treated her to some yummy catnip of which she rolled around in and then spazzed out for a while. That was followed by a little bowl of milk. It was quite the birthday bash!

This year's party attendence was smaller than last year....it was only Phoebe and Ellie - Gemini and Casey could not attend for they did not have a ride out here from Belvidere. Oh, and Chica wouldn't come; she goes to bed too early to party with the young-ins!!!

She is now snoozing on the chair next to me while I type, which is nice since she usually sits on my lap when I am using the computer!

Enjoy the pics!!!

Phoebe eating one of the Catnip Critters.

Slowly grabbing one of the tails to play.

So many toys, so little time.

Both cats playing in the hall.

Forget about wearing a lamp shade....it's not a party until someone gets possessed!
Ellie is actually yawning here, I somehow managed to catch her in "scary mode."

Weird Cat.

I thought for a minute that I had a magical cat; one that could float in mid-air. (Please ignore the spare sheets thrown on the bed...)
I saw Phoebe's tiny head just floating there....then I realized that she had crawled in the blanket, turned herself around, and sat in there "tamale style."

They have the easiest life

So, I was home from work on Monday and got to see what the kitties do all day. You know what? They don't do anything! What a life!

Phoebe chillin' on the radiator....

Ellie, who wouldn't sit still for a picture on the radiator, laying in the sun.

This was taken tonight...the cats staring me down while I am at the computer.

They had just been brushed and apparently wanted me to continue. Ellie looks like she might attack...

(The pretty pink brush is on the bed behind them!)

No more front claws!

Ellie was just declawed this week. She went into the vet on Tuesday morning which seemed to be quite a sock to Phoebe. For the 2 days that Ellie was gone, all we heard is the crying meow of Phoebe...she missed her sidekick. When I did not come home right after work on Tuesday, Kevin said that Phoebe was lost. She stared out the front window for quite some time and would not go near him. (She probably thought that he lost it and got rid of Ellie and myself!)

Wednesday was a little better, and by Thursday I think Phoebe believed that she was an only child again...and the mischief began.

I found these on the floor when I returned from work.
One of these is not a toy....perhaps Phoebe wants to start wearing make-up. She actually had to go up on a dresser, grab this brush and bring it all the way downstairs.

Ellie's declaw went very well. The first day home, you couldn't even tell she had surgery. Oh, I was told that she ate a lot....she meowed constantly while at the vet and the only way to get her to stop was to give her food.

Here she is licking her new, clawless paws.

(I think I just heard a big sigh of relief coming from the couches!!!)

Kitties reunited...aww....

April 3, 2009

A new post....

is coming soon! I have many random pictures to post as well as the status of Ellie's declawment and Phoebe's weirdness....

U.F.C : Ultimate Feline Championship

How is this fun? I don't get it. This seems to be the common game played in our house and I can never tell who wins.

March 16, 2009

Why didn't Martha think of this?

Martha Stewart, that is.
If you are thinking about redecorating your home, you don't always have to buy new accessories. Just take a look around your house and see what you already own. Perhaps you have a basket in the spare room that would work well in the dining room, or maybe that glass candle holder will look better on the shelf rather than on the counter....or maybe even live decorations, like a cat, would work....

Maybe I can teach her to pose there when company is over and she can hand out mints or something...
